Boffo beer, band bash
Just a quick reminder of tonight’s music video release and “Meet the Brewer” bonanza, featuring indie band The Grokkers, their music videos filmed at the Green Dragon and a special appearance by Jamie Floyd of Ninkasi Brewing. Jamie, who earned his nickname “Sweet Little F***er” from publican Vic Kraj of The Bistro in Hayward, Calif, will be bringing a couple of special kegs with him. He’ll have a keg of Oatis stout infused with vanilla bean and a special dry-hopped Total Domination with extra Summit and Crystal hops.
The music starts at 8 p.m. To check out The Grokkers music, click on http://www.myspace.com/thegrokkers.
Menu-licious additions
If you’ve been in the Dragon in the past couple of days (and, if you haven’t, why not?) you may have noticed the new summer menu has already launched. New General Manager Andrew Sloan decided why wait, with the weather finally looking like summer may arrive, it was time for some good old fashioned comfort food.
So, sharing the menu with some of your old favorites are such new appetizers as Pulled Pork Sliders and Warm Crab and Artichoke Dip; sandwiches like a Garden Wrap and Smoked Chicken Blue Cheese Buffalo Sandwich and entrees such as Chicken Fried Steak and a BBQ Brisket Plate. Look for the full menu on the website by the end of the weekend… or better yet, at the pub some day soon – like maybe today.
Shuffleboard nears, but Triathlon postponed
The latest word is that the new shuffleboard table should arrive Tuesday, so dust off your pucks and give the new board a go.
But, we realized we were a bit hasty in planning our first Bar Game Triathlon, since the date we chose conflicts with the Brewers Summer Games (http: pelicanbrewery.com/pages/brewerssummergames-2008.html ) held each year in Pacific City. So look for a new date announcement (sometime in July) in an upcoming Dragons Tales and on posters at the pub.
Upcoming “Meet the Brewers” schedule
Tuesday “Meet the Brewer” nights continue this Tuesday, June 3, with the folks from BridgePort Brewing. The following week, an assortment of Oregon Brewers Guild brewers with bring their beers for a SNOB (Support Native Oregon Beer) member drive. The SNOB program, the enthusiast membership arm of the Oregon Brewers Guild, started in 2003 and is nearing its 2,000th member. If you’re not a card-carrying SNOB yet, Tuesday, June 10th, is your chance to sign up and maybe become the 2,000th member and win groovy prizes. June 17 will feature the brewers from The New Old Lompoc.
All “Meet the Brewer” events start at 6 p.m.
We’re Twitter-pated
Because our beer list changes so frequently, our weekly updates just don’t cut it. So, we are looking for ways to keep you informed of what’s on tap. One option we are exploring is using Twitter, an online and mobile phone service that would allow us to shoot out short beer updates whenever a new beer goes on tap. We’re trying to learn the ins and outs right now and if any of you are more Twitter-fluent and care to share your thoughts, feel free to drop a line to pdxgreendragon@yahoo.com and let us know what you think. If you are on Twitter now, our username is pdxgreendragon if you care to follow us.
